The February Portrait Loop: Long Exposures
I cannot believe it is already the end of February, how is it possible? At least this year we have one extra day of this month as it's a leap year and what better day to post our second installment of our Portrait Blog Circle, this month it's all about Long Exposures.
Like last month I had a bit of a hard time getting a chance to do these because the weather has been absolutely awful but thankfully the skies cleared up a bit last sunday and I was able to have a little play. I absolutely love creating images using a long exposure along with my Lee Filters, I love the way it makes the water look and just adds something special to my portraits. Everything feels more intentional and sometimes when I'm taking these kind of images without anyone in them they become a meditation in itself. I had planned to photograph my husband, Kevin but Nixie wanted to be in them too and I was incredibly impressed she managed to stay still for 7 seconds (Forrest was absolutely chilled hanging out in the backpack just watching)!
I wanted to take this time as an opportunity to say how grateful I am for Kevin and all that he does for me and our family especially these last few weeks. I have been so busy with this amazing business course I've been doing by the incredible Antonina Mamzenko (honestly it's changed my life and if you're a photographer I highly recommend it, she's even doing 1 to 1 mentoring) which has been taking up most of my time. I have been so busy with working on updating my website, creating a new brochure, and a bunch of other things and Kevin has been the mastermind behind it all. He's built my site from scratch and has put so much love into it and I couldn't be more grateful to him as I know it's been hard for him too, with his daily commute to London and not feeling the greatest but still using any spare time to work on it, I genuinely hope he always feels loved. Trying to work on personal things with two little ones is really hard but Kevin really does make it all possible and so much easier, he's always thinking about my needs and truly does help me with realising my dreams and for that I am forever grateful to him. We are so lucky to have him in our family.
And now I highly encourage you all to check out the other artists in the blog circle, there's only 4 of us so it won't take up too much of your time but I promise you'll be inspired! Next up is the incredible Bex Maini - Sussex Family Photographer

Oh! I adore these! I love that last one with just the flashes of little Nixie. Gorgeous! So cool to hear you are doing Antonina's course too, that one is on my wish list at the moment xx
