You, Forrest and I woke up around 7:30 and after a snuggle you and I got dressed and headed straight outside while everyone else was still asleep to get some more nettles for our peacock caterpillars which we found yesterday.

Both daddy and Nixie were still asleep. Daddy was asleep on the sofa again. They had Starwars night last night and I couldn't believe it but Nixie, you didn't wake up until close to 9. You, Forrest, asked if you could play a little Mario and I said yes and this didn't even cause daddy to stir even in the slightest.

Once the two of you were both awake it was time to wake up daddy by piling on top of him and giving him his father's Day hugs and then he barely had a chance to open his eyes properly before the two of you were dragging him over to the other side of the room where his presents awaited him. He received all sorts of goodies this year and he really loved your (Forrest) bag of farts and your (Nixie) solar light of an otter and all of his chocolates from both of you (which you thoroughly enjoyed picking out for him). His main present though was a sewing machine and he was like a little kid with a new toy. Straight away he unpacked it and in between his sips of coffee he began learning how to put it together and how to use it. While he was doing this you, Nixie, took the opportunity to show Forrest the little surprise you had been making him the night before and it made him so happy! I love how you are always thinking of little spontaneous things to do for him.

Our day ended up being a super relaxed one. I spent some time putting my dried flowers and leaves into kilner jars and the three of us spent time in the garden pond watching and admiring all of the little frogs and then daddy made an amazing discovery: he found the last moult of a dragonfly nymph! I was so excited as it’s something I’ve been wanting to find for years and to find one in our very own garden made it even more special. And Nixie I loved how you super excitedly said, “I love how there’s so much life in our garden! I love our garden, I’ve never had a garden with so much amazing life in it!” whenever you say things like this it just fills my heart up so much that it overflows. To hear you sounding so happy is all that I could ever ask for.

After while daddy decided he wanted to begin his very first sewing project and him and I looked for ideas on pinterest and I found these really sweet jedi knight robes and as soon as he saw it he knew that was what he wanted to make so we went to hobby craft so that he could get some fabric and a couple of other bits and then we needed to stop by the grocery store to get some things for dinner. Once home the rest of our afternoon was spent with all of us doing our own thing. The two of you played a little bit of video games, I crocheted and daddy learned how to use his sewing machine.

I made us dinner and loved the fact that I could just go outside to pick us fresh lettuce. Afterwards daddy continued with his project while the three of us went for a little evening walk to collect some more nettles for our butterfly babies. While we were going through this patch of woodland, you, Nixie, shushed us and stood statue still looking straight up into the trees. You had spotted a nuthatcher and were so excited! I am always so impressed by all the bird knowledge you have. You know way more than me. Actually you are always teaching me things.

It ended up being a very late night because daddy was on a mission of finishing your robes. By 23:00 they were finally finished and the two of you got to try them on and they couldn’t have been more perfect! Daddy is always incredible at everything he does, he really blows us all away with all of his talents! We are so lucky to have him
