This is my personal project and one that is very close to my heart: Photographing one whole day in my life, it began a few years ago on Monday Jan 1, 2018 when I did 1 day a week switching days each week which I did for two years and then for year three I only did them for each full moon and changed the format of them. Now I'm in my fourth year of doing this project, I began with the intention of doing them weekly but that hasn't been happening so I'm doing them whenever it feels right up until I reach Week 52 but still focusing on our weekends or when we are all together and have returned to my original way of doing them which is choosing 25 images for the day. Hope you enjoy following along!
Week 41 Year 2
I looked up into the tree and saw a lone crow staring back at me. I have always loved crows and got really happy and took a few steps closer and looked into her eyes and invited her to come down to us, I even said to you Nixie how I wished she would just come down and say hi to us! And I kid you not about 10 seconds later that is exactly what she did (you insisted this crow was a she)! You had some crumbs in your hands from Forrest's biscotti which the crow loved, she was even eating directly out of your hands!
Week 33 Year 2
I had been looking forward to today all week ever since we made plans to have a girly day out to Bournemouth just the two of us. It was something that you and I both really needed, Just some time to truly be able to connect with each other without my attention always being broken because of Forrest.
Week 26 Year 2
And it is that time again for another entry for Artefact motherhood, a collaboration of artists & mothers from around the world..It was such an amazing day, I had been looking forward to this experience for such a long time! It was day 2 of our first camping trip as a family of four. Even though I barely got any sleep I woke up feeling so good, being out in the woods has a way of always making me feel better. And Nixie, you had been missing all of our camping adventures. It's something we have all missed.
Week 25 Year 2
It was a crazy long day! We headed to London so I could collect my passport & then followed by a trip to the Natural History Museum so that you could get your Dino fix and where I had one of the scariest moments of my life where I thought I had lost you! And on the way home we had car problems and spent a lot of time at service stations which made it so that we didn't get home until close to 1am!
Week 22 Year 2
I've been so conscious of the passing of time again, I want to just savour, slow down and cherish this time in our lives. You are growing up so quickly and it feels so bittersweet. I've been getting these lumps in my throat and knots in my stomach when I look at you and your sister sometimes...
Week 21 Year 2
You ended up having so many great experiences!....but i think your favourite thing was building your bug hotel, you really seem to enjoy working with wood and loved using the different kinds of drills including the powered drill and getting your face painted. If you could have your face painted everyday you’d be the happiest little girl! You just get so relaxed and love the feeling of it all, it is so sweet, you always almost fall asleep.
Week 20 Year 2
After your morning Rugby class we headed to one of our favourite spots in the woods. It was so beautiful and so peaceful where we were, it was the perfect place to be during a heatwave. We had fun playing in the streams and playing with bubbles and then enjoyed the company of our sweet friends who came to join us. Zoryan had Borsch and you had the sweetest expression on your face and looked so left out like you were thinking but what about me?!?! Nixie had your back though and asked Elina if you could have some too, I love how she’s always looking out for you and thinking about you and your needs, your relationship and connection is really blossoming!!
Week 19 Year 2
Wow. What an incredible day we had! We decided to have a day trip to the Isle of Wight and it was a day full of the most beautiful human moments. There's nothing better than experiencing a place for the first time and we had such an incredible little hike to Freshwater Bay where we spent hours exploring the rock pools before it was time to head back to catch the ferry back home.
Week 11 Year 2
Yesterday you turned four. I cannot quite believe it. Four years I have been a mumma, I still remember the first time we met as if it were yesterday. You came out into this world with bright red hair, your name was truly meant for you, you are our Phoenix, our little firebird. You are the greatest spiritual guide I’ve ever had, you inspire me to become the best version of myself and I feel so blessed that you chose us as your parents. Thank you for being you.
Week 7 Year 2
The main theme for the day was all about frogs, we had our first Operation Freedom where we released some of our froglets and had quite the adventure out in the woods that involved tantrums, lots of laughter & me getting absolutely stuck up to my knees in stinky silty mud and needed to be rescued!
Week 5 Year 2
And it is that time again for another entry for Artefact motherhood, a beautiful blog circle which is a collaboration of artists & mothers from around the world sharing stories of the joys and struggles of our journey... You (Nixie) wanted to go to the farm again, we've been going there a lot lately as it's currently one of your favourite places to be so we got ready to leave the house....
