Day In My Life

This is my personal project and one that is very close to my heart: Photographing one whole day in my life, it began a few years ago on Monday Jan 1, 2018 when I did 1 day a week switching days each week which I did for two years and then for year three I only did them for each full moon and changed the format of them. Now I'm in my fourth year of doing this project, I began with the intention of doing them weekly but that hasn't been happening so I'm doing them whenever it feels right up until I reach Week 52 but still focusing on our weekends or when we are all together and have returned to my original way of doing them which is choosing 25 images for the day. Hope you enjoy following along!

At 9:35 we got a call from Tina, our solicitors assistant at Mathews and Mathews that we have from a legal standpoint officially completed and that we now own a house! I couldn't believe it, it made me really unexpectedly emotional! I never thought I'd be one to say I own a house! It feels really surreal.

A gorgeous day of bike riding and fossil hunting at a spot I've been wanting to go to for months and months: Tidmoor Point.

We finally arrived at the stones around 9:15 (so we didn’t have that much time until it was time to leave again) It was such a crazy and different Stonehenge experience this year but even though it did not go to plan we all ended up having the best of times. We ran into some more of our friends which made it all even more special.

It felt so good to be outside in the winter air, there’s something about doing this walk to our tree on the solstice that makes it almost feel like a sacred pilgrimage. Well it is for me. I always use this time to reflect on the past year, acknowledging the good and the bad, and paying special attention to the things I want to let go of.

Nixie you really made me and daddy laugh when daddy had told you to be aware that some of the ice might not be strong enough to hold you and it may be deep water underneath and you immediately dropped to your belly and said to us "I'm spreading myself wide so the ice doesn't break, just like I learned from Bear Grylls, he had to cross a lake once and had to do the same." We were super impressed that you remembered that! We spent ages at this little spot of ice. I was beginning to get really cold but the two of you seemed to be nowhere near ready to move on even though at this point both of you had soaking wet feet.

When we got home it was time to bring down the decorations and start putting them on our Love Tree. It really felt like going down memory lane as we grabbed different hearts to put on the tree. I remember some of them were made when you, Nixie, were just 1 and we still lived in London!

We continued exploring the grounds and stopped along the way to take photos. I love how both of you now request to have photos taken. Eventually we made our way back down to the entrance and you showed your answers to the quiz and received your special tokens which you, Nixie, told me you were going to keep forever.

As soon as we arrived London, we made our way to the underground to get ourselves to the science museum. We ended up spending over 5 hours there, we explored the wonder lab and you had your very first IMAX 3d experience. It was such an amazing day out. Nixie, you really loved all of the demonstrations, and shows that were on too and just couldn't get enough!

For some reason I have a permanent body clock of 5:00/5:30 I woke up squished between the two of you, I didn't have the best sleep. I woke up still feeling tired from yesterday. Today's my birthday, 43 trips around the sun and our second day in Sweden.

We got up early, around 5:00 to be ready to leave the house around 7:30. We had bowls full of three different types of cat pendants along with 35 chocolate frosting covered chocolate vegan cupcakes. It didn’t take us very long to set up at the market and I just felt so proud of you, Nixie once I saw you standing behind the table with everything displayed!

We decided to climb up Jacob's ladder and do the clifftop walk. We hadn't planned for this and did not have our hiking shoes on which in hindsight we really should have! It was hard work! It was so incredibly hot and the sun felt so strong but the both of you were absolutely incredible and did so well. Once we climbed the 278 steps that's when our true endurance test began!
